Overview

We have an opportunity for a Perfusionist to join their team of staff in the Cardiology department. This is a bank role working on an "as and when required" basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence. Duties of this role include:

Responsibilities
  • You provide clinical and technical perfusion service during both routine and emergency procedures.
  • You operate the heart-lung machine, delivering Cardio-Pulmonary Bypass (CPB) along with cell salvage systems and Intra- Aortic balloon pump.
  • You administer drugs including colloid/crystalloid fluids, vasoactive drugs, cardioplegia solution and osmotic diuretics as clinically indicated.
  • You monitor the patient's haemodynamic status and assess throughout the procedure to deliver concise, accurate instructions to the surgical and anaesthetic team.
  • You ensure quality control, calibration and maintenance is in place for the relevant specialist perfusion/blood management equipment.
  • You develop your own competence to deliver effective care and treatments through improving clinical/technical knowledge/skill, and expertise.
  • You comply with all relevant mandatory training.
Qualifications
  • Current knowledge of clinical practice.
  • Extensive post graduate experience.
  • Experience of customer care, including interacting with customers in challenging situations.
  • BsC/MsC in a clinical science discipline.
  • Accreditation as a perfusionist, registered with the Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain & Ireland (SOPGI).
  • Registration with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain & Ireland.
