Performance Testing Opportunities (Lead & Engineer) - Transformation Programme

Location: Reading (2 days onsite per week)

We are supporting a major transformation programme and are looking for experienced Performance Testing professionals at both Lead and Engineer levels to drive non‑functional testing across critical billing systems and integrations.

These roles are key to ensuring scalability, stability, and performance assurance during dual‑run operations and peak demand cycles.

The Roles

Performance Test Lead

You will own and drive the end‑to‑end performance engineering strategy, leading testing across complex, business‑critical systems. This includes defining SLAs/NFRs, managing stakeholders, mentoring teams, and ensuring readiness for go‑live through robust performance validation and sign‑off.

Performance Tester / Engineer

You will play a hands‑on role in designing, executing, and analysing performance tests, ensuring systems perform under real‑world and peak loads. This includes scripting, execution, monitoring, analysis, and supporting defect resolution across integrated systems.

Key Responsibilities (across both roles)

• Define and execute performance testing strategies and plans
• Design and run load, stress, endurance, and volume tests
• Conduct workload modelling and realistic scenario creation
• Monitor systems using Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or similar tools
• Analyse results, identify bottlenecks, and provide optimisation recommendations
• Support dual‑run validation and high‑volume transaction processing
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and business stakeholders
• Ensure performance testing is embedded within Agile/DevOps delivery pipelines

Key Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in Performance Testing / Engineering (5–12+ years depending on level)
• Strong hands‑on expertise with JMeter, LoadRunner, or NeoLoad
• Experience with performance monitoring tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, etc.)
• Solid understanding of performance engineering principles and workload modelling
• Experience working in Agile / DevOps environments
• Exposure to utilities, billing, or high‑volume transactional systems (highly desirable)
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
