Job summary

Source.dev is seeking a Performance / Systems Engineer to push the speed limits of Rust, Linux, and I/O. You will dissect execution paths, reduce kernel-space costs, and optimize memory layouts to keep SourceFS near hardware limits.

Ideal candidates have a deep system mindset, experience with large-scale build systems, and a collaborative, ownership-driven culture. You will work across CPU architectures, perf tooling, and advanced I/O techniques to accelerate complex device software workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience writing high-performance Rust or C/C++ code.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture (CPU caches, memory barriers).
• Experience with large-scale build systems and developer tooling.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel interactions and file systems.

Responsibilities

• Profile, trace, and eliminate latency in Rust/C++ systems code.
• Tune kernel and file system components for performance (FUSE, VFS, io_uring).
• Improve memory layout and reduce allocations for cache efficiency.
• Design robust benchmarking to measure performance regression in high-concurrency environments.
• Scale build primitives on massive graphs and hardware with many cores.
