Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level degree in a STEM field related to sport science or analytics.
  • Significant experience working with data in a professional sports environment.
  • Strong understanding of performance and medical analytics applied to players.
  • Experience with research methods and applying evidence to practice in elite sport.
  • Experience collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to take ownership and work independently.
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI and Excel.
  • Experience handling large, complex datasets.
  • Coding ability, preferably Python, for data analysis and visuals.
  • Clear communication of complex analysis as actionable insight.
  • Experience leading data projects from planning to delivery.
  • Full UK driving licence.

We’re looking for a passionate and knowledgeable football professional to help us nurture talent and support performance on and off the pitch. This role plays an important part in delivering high standards, supporting player development, and helping us create the best possible environment for success across the Club.

About the role

We are looking for a Performance Scientist to transform complex performance and medical data into clear, actionable insights. Working alongside colleagues across Performance, Medical, Data Insights, Academy and Women’s teams, you will help inform decision‑making that supports player performance, physical development and health.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine analytical expertise, scientific curiosity and collaboration within an elite football environment.

What you’ll bring…
  • A BSc in Sports Science, Data Science, Statistics or another relevant STEM discipline.
  • Significant experience working with data in a professional sports environment, ideally within team sport.
  • A strong understanding of performance and medical analytics and their application to player performance, physical development and health.
  • Experience of research methodology and applying evidence to practice in elite sport.
  • Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • The confidence to take ownership, use initiative and deliver work independently.
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Power BI and Excel.
  • Experience of managing and analysing large, complex datasets.
  • Coding capability, preferably using Python for data analysis and custom visualisation.
  • The ability to communicate complex analysis as clear, actionable insight.
  • Experience of leading data projects from planning through to successful delivery.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Although not essential, it would be great if you also have

  • An MSc in Sports Science, Data Science, Statistics or a related STEM discipline.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Sports Analytics.
  • BASES accreditation, or the ability to obtain it within an agreed timeframe.
  • Experience using Microsoft SQL.
  • Knowledge of sports epidemiology.
  • Experience of working in elite football.
