Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Camden to assist with the appointment of a People Relationship Advisor, on a 2-month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £24.25 - £31.99 per Hour

Summary

The People Relationship Advisor supports a designated portfolio of services by providing high‑quality HR expertise and relational people support. Acting as a trusted partner, the postholder helps managers build positive, inclusive and constructive employee relationships, strengthening engagement and supporting Camden’s relational approach to people management. The role ensures consistent and expert advice across the full spectrum of HR practice including employee relations, organisational change, HR policy, workforce planning, and development while helping services deliver impactful outcomes for residents. Working collaboratively with colleagues across People and Inclusion, the Advisor contributes to building a human‑centred culture where learning, experimentation, compassion and partnership drive organisational success.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert, consistent advice across all areas of HR practice, including employee relations, organisational design, resourcing, pay and reward, job evaluation, learning and development, and employment legislation.
  • Manage and support complex and sensitive cases, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, sickness, and Employment Tribunal preparation.
  • Support large‑scale or complex organisational change programmes, ensuring people impacts are understood and managed empathetically.
  • Provide service areas with people data, analysis, insights, research and best‑practice guidance to inform decisions.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with Directors, Heads of Service, managers, Members, staff groups, and partners including schools and governing bodies.
Requirements
  • Detailed and up‑to‑date knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Professional HR qualification (e.g., CIPD Level 5 or above) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to inclusive, relational and restorative approaches to people management.
  • Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases and supporting organisational change.
  • Ability to analyse problems, identify root causes and develop practical, value‑adding solutions.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship‑building skills at all organisational levels.
  • Demonstrable experience planning and delivering work over the short to medium term, including contributing to project outcomes.
Additional Requirements
  • You should be available to work immediately or at short notice.
  • You should have the right to work in the U.K.
