Job description

Hello. We’re Teya.

Teya was founded on a simple belief: local businesses deserve better.

They are the cafés, restaurants, salons, shops and entrepreneurs that bring character to our high streets, create jobs and keep communities moving. Yet for too long, financial services has made life harder for them - with clunky tools, poor support and complexity that gets in the way of running a business.

Teya exists to change that.

We’re building a financial platform for local businesses across Europe - one built around simple tools, thoughtful design and real human support. Our Members rely on us to help them run their business with confidence, and that responsibility shapes the way we work.

We move fast. We care about quality. We stay close to the detail. And we believe great performance and genuine hospitality should go hand in hand.

If you want to build meaningful products, solve real problems and make a genuine difference for local businesses, we’d love to hear from you

Your Mission

Teya is scaling rapidly, and the UK is at the heart of that growth. We’re building a high-performing commercial organisation across Sales, Partnerships, Customer Success and Field Operations — and we’re looking for a People Partner to help us build the teams, leadership and performance culture to match our ambition.
You’ll work closely with our UK commercial leaders and managers, combining hands-on people support with the opportunity to shape how the organisation grows. From coaching managers and managing employee relations to driving performance, engagement and workforce planning, you’ll be close to the business and accountable for getting things done.
This is a role for someone who wants to operate, not just advise. You’ll use data and judgement to identify what the business needs, turn people priorities into action, and help our leaders build stronger, higher-performing teams.
Our commercial teams are also one of Teya’s closest connections to our members. The people you support are often the first face of Teya our members see, so building a brilliant commercial organisation directly contributes to the experience and success of the businesses we serve.
What you’ll be doing

Partner with UK commercial leaders and managers on the people priorities that will help their teams perform and scale.

  • Be a trusted first point of contact for managers and employees, providing practical, high-quality support across day-to-day people matters.

  • Coach managers to set clear expectations, give better feedback, address underperformance and lead their teams with confidence.

  • Manage employee relations cases end-to-end, including performance, absence, disciplinaries and grievances, applying sound judgement and UK employment law to reach fair and pragmatic outcomes.

  • Drive the execution of our core people cycles across the UK commercial organisation, including performance reviews, compensation, talent and engagement.

  • Use people and commercial data to identify trends, diagnose problems and turn insights into clear actions for leaders.

  • Support workforce and organisational planning, helping leaders make the right decisions on team structure, capability and headcount as the business scales.

  • Identify high-potential talent and future leaders, supporting development and succession planning across critical commercial roles.

  • Work with our Talent team to ensure we attract and hire exceptional commercial talent and build the capabilities we’ll need for the future.

  • Help build and improve how we onboard, develop and retain our commercial teams, taking ownership of grassroots projects that strengthen commercial capability.

  • Partner with teams including Finance, Reward and Sales Operations to ensure headcount, organisational structures and incentives support our commercial objectives.

  • Champion Teya’s culture and performance standards, helping create an environment where great people can do their best work.

  • Contribute to wider People initiatives and share what’s working across Teya’s People Partnering team.

What we’re looking for

  • You’re a strong operator who takes ownership, moves quickly and turns ideas into action.

  • You have experience in a People Partner, HR Advisor or similar generalist role and are ready to take on greater ownership and scope.

  • You’re comfortable working directly with managers and employees and can build credibility quickly with people at different levels.

  • You have solid experience handling employee relations matters and a good working knowledge of UK employment law.

  • You understand what good performance management looks like and are comfortable helping managers address difficult performance and people issues.

  • You’re commercially minded — you’re interested in how the business works and connect people decisions to business outcomes rather than treating People as a standalone function.

  • You’re analytical and comfortable using data to understand problems, challenge assumptions and make better decisions.

  • You have strong judgement and can balance empathy for individuals with what’s right for the team and the business.

  • You thrive in environments that are fast-moving, ambitious and sometimes ambiguous. You don’t need everything to be perfectly defined before getting started.

  • You’re collaborative and low-ego, but comfortable challenging leaders when you believe there’s a better answer.

  • Most importantly, you’re ambitious, curious and eager to grow. You don’t need to have done everything before — we care about your potential, learning agility and ability to execute.

Location: This role is based in our London Blackfriars HQ four days a week. We believe in collaborating in person to build, move quickly and get things done. (edited)
