Job Summary

People Partner - Band 7

We are pleased to invite applications for the role of People Partner. As a People Partner, you will provide a specialist employee relations and resolution service to managers and staff across the Trust. You'll be responsible for managing your own complex ER casework, supporting managers with expert advice and guidance, and playing a key role in promoting a culture of early resolution, fairness, learning and accountability.

This role is central to driving change and improving the experience of our staff and managers, through the application of best‑practice ER approaches rooted in the principles of a just and inclusive culture.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist HR advice and support to the management team within a designated area.
  • Undertake a range of employee relations casework.
  • Proactively advise managers and establish plans to manage and reduce sickness absence, ensuring correct application of the Trust’s absence management policy.
  • Interpret, review, develop and implement HR policies, procedures and practices.
  • Lead key HR projects or initiatives, design and deliver specialist staff development and training courses, and support job‑evaluation activities.
  • Manage and develop a People Partner Advisor.
Qualifications
  • Accreditations, education, essential:
    • CIPD or equivalent HR qualification
    • Master’s level degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
    • Training in AF&F Job Evaluation or willingness to complete the training
  • Experience, essential:
    • Experience of managing or supervising staff
    • Extensive experience in providing highly specialised HR advice and support to managers, including absence management, conduct, capability, disciplinary, grievance, management of change, TUPE and employment law
    • Experience of devising and delivering training packages to a range of staff
    • Experience of working in partnership with staff side/trade unions
    • Experience in designing and implementing policies and procedures
  • Knowledge and skills, essential:
    • Preparing and writing effective reports and official documentation
    • Up‑to‑date and extensive knowledge of employment law and its application
    • Awareness and understanding of the Trust’s purpose, values and key objectives
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to analyse management information
    • Ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
