Job summary

McDonald’s United Kingdom is seeking a People Experience Lead to support recruitment, onboarding and the development of a high-performing team within a fast-paced restaurant environment.

You will work with the Business Manager and People Manager to maintain accurate HR records, monitor metrics, and promote an inclusive workplace culture while delivering strong people practices across 100+ staff.

Qualifications

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in fast-paced retail, hospitality, or customer service.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident to use Microsoft Office and computer systems; adaptable to new tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of building relationships across levels.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, engagement or HR administration is desirable.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, show initiative and maintain confidentiality.

People Experience Lead

The People Experience Lead plays a key role in supporting the delivery of effective people practices within a fast-paced, customer-focused restaurant environment. Working closely with the Business Manager and People Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and development of employees while promoting a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.

As part of the restaurant management team, the People Experience Lead helps oversee people operations for a workforce of 100+ employees within a multi-million-pound business. The role involves maintaining accurate people records, monitoring key HR metrics, supporting employee relations, and ensuring company policies and procedures are consistently applied.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and induction of new employees.
  • Assist in implementing people strategies that drive employee engagement, retention, and development.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on key people metrics, providing insights to support operational and business objectives.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and complete HR administration, including documentation, filing, note-taking, and data management.
  • Provide guidance and first-line support to employees on HR policies, procedures, and internal systems.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare reports, and present updates to management where required.
  • Support employee recognition initiatives and internal communications, including social media updates.
  • Ensure people systems and HR processes are maintained effectively and in compliance with company standards.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership by promoting an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative working environment.
  • Build positive relationships with employees and managers, using initiative, professionalism, and problem-solving skills to resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Work flexibly across a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, to support operational requirements.
Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within retail, hospitality, customer service, or a similar fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and other computer-based systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, or HR administration is desirable.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, use initiative, and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
