To manage the large number of Merger & Acquisition (M&A) transactions (ongoing and future), a central M&A People team has been formed within People, Governance and Communications (PGC) to lead and deliver M&A transactions. The central team will ensure consistency of PGC approach to transactions, facilitate governance and approvals, change & risk management and deliver projects including due diligence and overall programme management of delivery including resourcing for a project. The role holder will also be accountable to build M&A capability.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a People Delivery Lead, Merger & Acquisition - 24 Months Secondment.

In this role you will need:

  • Manage people aspects of key M&A transactions across the deal lifecycle, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with business objectives, whilst leading overall delivery of key transactions by defining resourcing and programme management of a cross‑functional PGC workstream structure and mobilising cross‑functional PGC teams from all relevant areas (Rewards, ER, Talent etc.) for delivery and providing appropriate inputs across different stages of a transaction.
  • Support in implementing ‘best in class’ M&A practices in delivery, governance and post‑implementation review of a transaction.
  • Accountable for identifying and highlighting key risks and aligning PGC & business stakeholders on risk mitigation.
  • Enable resourcing discussions for PGC workstreams and serve as the point of contact for all people‑related elements of a transaction.
  • Enable day 1 PGC readiness in collaboration with respective People Heads and continuously track people metrics to measure the success of a transaction particularly post‑deal outcomes for teams joining HSBC and support in building HR capability of M&A processes, upskilling internal teams and building institutional knowledge for future transactions.

To be successful you will need:

  • Extensive experience in M&A managing large transactions in financial services or highly regulated organisations.
  • Experience in delivering large complex M&A assignments across different markets, leading cross‑functional teams and managing C‑suite expectations and programme management of large transactions.
  • A comprehensive understanding of a value unit / product / region / legal entity, alongside a good understanding of the industry and the challenges and changes in the sector.
  • Prior experience with management responsibilities for a sizeable team of professionals (including responsibility for budget, and planning).
  • Latitude to make decisions outside of established procedures but within a policy framework. Broad guidelines are available. The role implements strategy set by others.
  • The ability to guide, persuade and influence others through developed skills of communication and diplomacy.

This role is based in London and is Hybrid working.
