About the role

We are looking for an organised, approachable and detail focused People Coordinator to join our People & Culture team. In this role, you will help colleagues and managers navigate key moments throughout the employee lifecycle, from employment changes and everyday policy queries to leavers, employee relations support and feedback processes. You will keep our systems and records accurate, manage shared inboxes and provide a friendly and reliable service that helps colleagues feel supported and informed.

Working closely with the whole team, you will contribute to recruitment and engagement activities, support the effective delivery of people processes and identify opportunities to improve the way we work. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in getting the details right and is keen to build their career in HR while helping us deliver an efficient, inclusive and responsive people service.

About you

You are approachable, customer focused and solutions oriented, with strong communication skills and the confidence to respond to queries professionally and accurately. You will have experience in an administrative role and be known for your attention to detail, particularly when handling sensitive information, maintaining accurate records or working within compliance-led processes. You take pride in producing high-quality work, can manage competing priorities effectively and are comfortable working independently while collaborating with colleagues across a wider team.

Key areas of responsibility
  • Act as a first point of contact for People & Culture queries, managing shared inboxes and delivering a professional, responsive and customer focused service to colleagues and managers.
  • Provide administrative support across the employee lifecycle, including employment changes, references, contract documentation and leaver processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, update HR systems, produce reports and ensure compliance with data protection requirements and internal procedures.
  • Support employee relations activity by preparing documentation, taking accurate notes in sensitive meetings and providing guidance on People & Culture policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to recruitment, engagement and employee feedback activities, identifying opportunities to improve processes and support wider People & Culture projects.
Benefits
  • Free exhibition entry for you and guests, exclusive private views, ICOM and reciprocal museum access.
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays and 2.5 privilege days (and +5 days after 10 years).
  • Discounts at onsite catering, Museum shops and local Bloomsbury partners.
  • Social and wellbeing perks including Staff parties, social clubs, CSSC sports and leisure, and support from the Civil Service Retirement Fellowship.
  • Peer support and allyship with five diversity networks for community.
  • Employee Assistance Programme available 24/7 for counselling, wellbeing support and more.
  • Eyecare vouchers for VDU tests and contributions toward glasses.
  • Interest‑free loans including season ticket, rental deposit and bicycle loans.
