Overview

Rocksteady Music School is the UK’s largest rock and pop school. We teach fun and inclusive in‑school band lessons to primary age children. Our mission is simple: to amplify children’s self-belief and remove barriers to music education. We’re currently in thousands of schools in the UK, teaching over 120K children every week, and recently launched in Australia – and we’re growing fast.

Our offices in Liphook and Birmingham are home to many of our central office teams. From there, we all play our part in supporting our band leaders to reach as many children as possible with their lessons. That’s what gets us out of bed in the morning!

We are looking for an experienced People Advisor to join our friendly, purpose-driven team here at Rocksteady. This is a varied, hands‑on role with a core focus on employee relations, management coaching and support, and policy. You will play a genuine role in making sure our people feel valued, supported and heard, day in and day out.

We are now expanding our People team into our Birmingham office, which opened last year. This is where you'll be based whilst working closely with our existing team of seven in Liphook, Hampshire. This is an exciting opportunity to be the face of the People team on the ground in Birmingham — making sure our people there feel properly supported, while helping them understand what we do and how we can help. You will also support people across the wider business who are based across the UK.

We're looking for someone with strong advisory experience, who is confident handling employee relations across the whole lifecycle. You will have the ability to thrive when no two days look the same and be happy working independently whilst keeping in close contact with the team in Liphook. If you want to make a real, visible difference in a business with exciting growth plans, this is the role for you!

As a People Advisor, you will
  • Be the first point of contact for managers for general people queries and advice across the entire employee lifecycle.
  • Support managers and be the HR lead on employee relations matters including disciplinary and grievance meetings, sickness, occupational health referrals and performance management.
  • Build relationships with managers at all levels and develop a strong understanding of the business to help identify issues and trends.
  • Support with the development and review of existing and new policies in line with legislation, best practice and business objectives.
  • Support the People Team Leader and Head of People with wider initiatives and projects as required.
  • Some administration activities will also be required in this role, including helping to keep our HR system up to date.

Benefits
  • 35 hour working week.
  • 28 days holiday, plus all UK bank holidays.
  • Long service awards including an additional 4 weeks’ pay after 5 years.
  • Annual staff bonus opportunity.
  • Personal development opportunities.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including discounts on everyday purchases and a free 24/7 GP service.

Every once in a while, you get the chance to be part of something really special. When you join Rocksteady, you know immediately that you’ve found it. We might be growing fast but we pay special attention to protecting our unique working culture and ensuring everyone feels comfortable to be themselves at work. We look out for each other, welcome new colleagues as friends and stay true to our small-company roots; rolling up our sleeves if a job needs doing, solving problems together and, most importantly, always putting the children first. Likeminded people are joining us and we’re reaching more and more children with our lessons every week. We keep growing because we’re driven by our passion for the life-changing nature of music.

Join us and use your skills for good.

Your Passion. Their Future.
