We are looking for a People Advisor to play a key role in delivering a professional, proactive and people-focused HR service across the business. Supporting employees and managers throughout the employee lifecycle, you will help create an outstanding workplace experience while ensuring our people practices remain consistent, compliant and aligned with our values.

Working closely with the People Business Partner and wider People Team, this role will provide expert HR support across a broad range of activities including onboarding, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, payroll support and employee engagement, helping to deliver an exceptional experience for every colleague.

The Role

You will be responsible for providing high-quality HR advice and operational support across the business, ensuring employees and managers receive timely, professional guidance throughout every stage of the employee lifecycle. Working collaboratively with the wider People Team, you will support key HR initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality and customer service.

  • Deliver and continuously enhance the employee experience from onboarding through to offboarding, ensuring every interaction reflects the values and standards of Gordon Murray Automotive.
  • Manage and deliver engaging new starter induction programmes, including HR inductions at our Head Office and supporting Director onboarding where required.
  • Ensure Right to Work checks, sponsorship records and employee documentation are completed accurately and maintained in line with legal requirements.
  • Act as a trusted first point of contact for HR-related queries, providing advice and guidance to employees and managers across the business.
  • Support line managers with employee relations matters including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, capability and performance management processes.
  • Work closely with the People Business Partner on more complex employee relations cases, providing professional support throughout investigations and formal processes.
  • Prepare HR correspondence, investigation reports, meeting notes and employee documentation while maintaining complete confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain accurate employee records across the HRIS, ensuring all contractual changes, benefits, payroll updates and organisational information are processed efficiently.
  • Act as a superuser of the HRIS, supporting managers and employees with system queries while producing accurate employee reports and data.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding activities, ensuring every new employee receives a seamless and positive introduction to the business.
  • Assist with the development, review and maintenance of HR policies, procedures and process documentation in line with employment legislation and best practice.
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers on annual leave, family-friendly leave, employee benefits, payroll queries and company policies.
  • Coordinate settling-in period reviews, development plans and Personal Development Plan (PDP) processes, supporting managers to develop their teams.
  • Support annual salary review activities, promotion processes and employee development initiatives across the business.
  • Assist with the delivery of management workshops, learning and development programmes and training initiatives that build capability across the organisation.
  • Manage the company's learning management system, maintaining training records, assigning learning and producing reports to support business development needs.
  • Support monthly payroll activities, ensuring employee changes, overtime and approvals are processed accurately and on time.
  • Conduct exit interviews, support the leaver process and identify opportunities to continuously improve the employee experience.
  • Drive employee engagement through the coordination of company social events, communications and employee activities.
  • Maintain accurate personnel files, company documentation and audit records while ensuring compliance across all HR processes.
  • Build strong relationships across all company sites, travelling regularly to provide visible, accessible HR support to managers and employees.
About You

You'll be an organised and approachable HR professional who enjoys building strong relationships, supporting managers and delivering excellent service. You'll be comfortable balancing operational HR responsibilities with advisory support and will thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

  • CIPD Level 3 qualified (or equivalent), with CIPD Level 5 completed or working towards.
  • Strong HR administration and advisory experience across the employee lifecycle within a busy business environment.
  • Proven experience delivering onboarding programmes, inductions and supporting recruitment activities.
  • Experience supporting employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance management.
  • Good working knowledge of employment legislation, family-friendly policies and HR best practice.
  • Experience managing confidential employee information with professionalism, discretion and accuracy.
  • Confident supporting payroll administration, employee benefits and HR systems, with HRIS experience essential.
  • Experience delivering training, presentations or workshops to managers and employees.
  • Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to build relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Proficient across Microsoft Office, SharePoint and HR systems, with experience of payroll processes and Visio considered advantageous.
  • Proactive, adaptable and collaborative, with a passion for delivering excellent employee experiences and continuously improving HR processes.
