Job summary

Activate Group is seeking a People Advisor for the Southern England/London region. The role is hybrid with 2–3 site visits weekly across southern sites and some national travel, with remote work for the rest.

Responsibilities

• Supporting, coaching and upskilling people managers across Southern England/London to handle employee relations confidently.
• Managing employee relations cases through to completion, including absence management, disciplinaries and grievances.
• Advising on policies and processes remotely and face to face, feeding insight into reviews.
• Managing recruitment campaigns from advert through to onboarding including screening and assessments.
• Building relationships across Activate Group to provide consistent support across business areas.
• Supporting wider People Team with HR queries and escalation as needed.
• Advising on non-complex health and safety queries with escalation as required.
• Acting as an ambassador for the Group Values and embedding them in the team member journey.

Job description

About the role:

You’ll report to our Head of People and work closely with our People Partner and a fellow People Advisor covering our Northern sites.

• Supporting, coaching and upskilling people managers across our national bodyshops (predominantly Southern England/ London region) to confidently handle a variety of people issues, including employee relations, using manager toolkits, constructive challenge and tailored training.
• Managing a variety of employee relations cases through to completion, including absence management, disciplinaries, grievances, flexible working, performance and routine occupational health, keeping the HR system and key stakeholders updated throughout.
• Advising on relevant policies and processes remotely and face to face, and feeding insight into policy and process reviews
• Managing recruitment campaigns from advert through to appointment and onboarding, including sourcing, screening and supporting interviews and assessment centres.
• Building relationships and a comprehensive understanding of Activate Group to provide clear, consistent support across all business areas.
• Supporting the wider People Team with a variety of HR queries, including administrative support where required and acting as a point of escalation.
• Advising People Managers on non-complex health and safety queries, escalating to the Head of Health, Safety & Environment where appropriate.
• Acting as an ambassador for the Group Values, supporting projects that improve the team member experience and embedding our values at every stage of the team member journey.

This is a hybrid role: expect 2-3 site visits a week, mainly across our southern sites (with some ad-hoc national travel) with the rest of your time worked remotely.

Skills and experience:

• Experience managing a high-volume employee relations caseload.
• Experience managing recruitment campaigns.
• Strong attention to detail with first-class written and verbal communication skills.
• Good knowledge of UK employment law, relevant legislation and employee relations best practice.
• Previous experience in a bodyshop environment is desirable but not essential.
• CIPD Level 5 qualified or working towards (or equivalent experience).
• Full UK Driving Licence
