Job description
Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced People Administrator, who has a keen interest in people and recruitment, to join our school based regional People team. We are looking to appoint a highly skilled and adaptable People Administrator to join Springfield Primary School. While your day to day work will be rooted in the school environment, supporting staff and handling key people administrative tasks, you will also be a valued member of our regional People team. This unique role blends hands on support within the school community with collaboration across the wider network, ensuring consistency in processes while embracing the distinct culture and ways of working at each school. Led by the Head of People Operations, the People Administrator will work in collaboration with the school based team and as part of the regional team to deliver an expert service to the school.

The successful candidate will work 15 hours a week, 8.30am – 2pm, (including a 30-minute unpaid break) Monday, Wednesday and Friday with flexibility required to support OFSTED on a Tuesday if required. As a flexible employer, we are happy to discuss flexible working patterns at interview.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality HR administration across the whole of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, contractual changes, absence management, and offboarding, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prioritise, action, and elevate work tasks and queries to the appropriate teams, such as Heads, Employee Relations, Payroll, and HR Senior Leadership, ensuring timely resolution with follow-ups as needed.
  • Ensure the recruitment and selection process strictly adheres to safer recruitment guidelines and GLF recruitment policy. Coordinate with Recruitment Partners and school leadership teams to manage shortlisting, schedule interviews, secure references, and ensure all required documentation is accurately uploaded to the recruitment system for full compliance.
  • Oversee and manage the compliance process for all new starters, ensuring timely and thorough completion of pre-employment checks.
  • Maintain the Single Central Record, personnel files, and training records for your assigned schools.
  • Act as a first point of contact for people related queries, ensuring high levels of confidentiality.
  • Be part of the admin team for the school.
What we are looking for
  • A good awareness and understanding of people administration, to ensure compliance with regulation and procedures.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to form rapport and build good working relationships with others.
  • A flexible and proactive approach with the ability to work on their own initiative.
  • Good time management skills and be highly organised and efficient.
  • A relevant HR qualification equivalent to Level 3 (Foundation Certificate in People Practice) would be advantageous, as would experience of working within a school environment, but neither are essential.
