Job description

About AXA:

AXA is a global leader in insurance and financial services, dedicated to helping customers protect what matters most to them. As the sixth-largest insurance company in the world, we provide a wide range of services, including health, car, home, and business insurance. We support millions of customers worldwide, helping them navigate life's uncertainties with confidence.

AXA UK Support Functions look after our three customer-facing business units, providing the infrastructure and expertise to make sure we can be there for our customers.

Job overview:

We’re recruiting a Pension Specialist to join our small, dynamic internal Pensions team. Providing technical, governance and administration support to our two pension schemes. You’ll lead on supporting and guiding our employees through the complexities of pensions. You’ll play a crucial role in overseeing and working with our external third-party providers, particularly our external administrators. This is a great opportunity to lead on agreed pension projects, working with all the Scheme’s advisors.

Key responsibilities:
  • Assist and deputise for the Head of Pensions Administration and Trustee Services in providing secretarial support to the scheme’s Trustees and manage meeting arrangements, papers, and minute-taking.
  • Lead the management of the Mastertrust Governance Committee, organising agendas, preparing papers, and tracking all actions.
  • Monitor third-party administration providers, address member queries, and resolve complex benefit and complaint cases promptly.
  • Develop and deliver communication strategies for pension scheme members, including financial wellbeing campaigns and pensions roadshows.
  • Manage the invoice process and provide quarterly updates to the Trustee board.
  • Deliver BAU projects such as Report & Accounts, Scheme Return, and ad-hoc initiatives like GMP Equalisation and Valuation.
  • Oversee the governance of life assurance arrangements for employees, including case management and relationship with Mercer.
  • Maintain accurate records, ensure deadlines are met, and produce timely reports and meeting documentation.
Work arrangements:

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

We know that some candidates may be discouraged from applying if they don't meet every requirement. If you’re excited by this job and the prospect of working at AXA but you’re not sure you tick every box, we’d still encourage you to apply.

Your skills & experience:
  • Experience in defined benefit and defined contribution pension administration.
  • Strong knowledge of pension scheme governance, calculations, and member communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts simply.
  • Proven organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with pension administration software and MS Office tools.
  • PMI studying or qualified is preferred.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

We’re proud to be an Equal Opportunities Employer and don’t discriminate against employees or potential employees based on protected characteristics.

If you have a long-term condition or disability and require adjustments during the application or interview process, we’re proud to offer access to the AXA Accessibility Concierge.
