Job description
Overview:

We are seeking an experienced proactive Pension Operations & Governance Specialist to support the operational, regulatory and governance requirements of our DC Solutions business including The Aon MasterTrust and Group Personal Pension. This role will drive process improvements, ensure regulatory compliance and provide key reporting and analysis for Trustees and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee reporting requirements, including preparation of scheme returns, event reporting and accounting for tax.
  • Manage quarterly and annual updates of public disclosures pages.
  • Prepare operational update slides for Trustees, including communication and process updates, member campaigns and impact analysis.
  • Support Value for Money reporting, adapting external data for Trustee and Aon G P P reporting.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
  • Initiate and manage supplier governance reviews, updating relevant documents and templates annually.
  • Coordinate operational monthly meetings and quarterly quality reviews with suppliers.
  • Attend annual site visits and governance meetings with suppliers.
  • Oversee contracting and due diligence for new services.
Operational Oversight
  • Prepare twice yearly (H1 & H2) operations reports for key supplier relationship review meetings.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly operational monitoring and catch‑up calls.
  • Manage operational projects and oversee change management initiatives.
  • Proactively keep wider team members updated on operational performance and developments.
  • Co‑ordinate and undertake user acceptance testing on changes to content and provide overall acceptance to move updates to the live environment.
Governance & Trustee Support
  • Support Governance Advisory Arrangement (GAA) activities for The Aon GPP, including liaison, data collation, audit representation, report review and documentation distribution.
  • Coordinate Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) responses and help facilitate complaints handling, liaising with our third‑party administrator.
  • Conduct regular internal reporting on member activity and monitor for trends or areas of concern.
  • Lead Control Environment Reporting (CER) and related metrics for senior stakeholder reporting.
  • Support enquiries about benefits, by interpreting and applying existing and new legislation and governance documents and referring to internal and external resources where appropriate.

Product Oversight - Support Product Oversight & Governance annual risk assessments.

Consumer Duty - Maintain Consumer Duty registers (vulnerable customers, communications, improvement logs). Coordinate Consumer Duty outcome reporting, annual cohort reviews and assist implementing Consumer Duty improvements. Plan and conduct focus groups and annual member surveys, assist in the reporting of findings.

Operational Resilience - To be trained and act as Operations Resilience Champion, leading testing and monthly attestations. Input and support annual reviews of operational resilience and potential harm assessments.

Incident Management - Maintain the incident reporting register; conduct root cause analysis and monitor corrective actions.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Experience in pension scheme operations, regulatory compliance, or governance preferred. Procedural and Operational Framework training will be given.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and presentation tools (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of UK pension regulations and Consumer Duty requirements.
  • Detail‑oriented with a commitment to continuous improvement.
