Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Nurse to lead transformational change across the Peninsula Major Trauma Network. The role focuses on improving patient care quality and experience, supporting education, training, innovation, and quality service improvement (QSI).

About Operational Delivery Networks (ODNs)

ODNs improve care regionally by bringing clinicians, providers, commissioners, and patients together to deliver strategic change. They aim to:

  • Increase operational effectiveness and consistency
  • Improve care quality and outcomes
  • Manage patient flows for equitable access and care close to home
Main Duties

  • Strategic Influence: Lead the nursing contribution to the Network's strategic direction, influencing workforce planning, education, quality improvement, and service transformation.
  • National Collaboration: Represent the Peninsula Trauma Network in national forums, contributing to the development of standards and policies that shape trauma care across the UK.
  • Innovation & Improvement: Drive forward service development, research, and education initiatives that improve patient outcomes and experiences.
  • Leadership & Advocacy: Champion the voice of nurses working across major trauma patients across the Network, advocating for excellence in care and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional and clinical leadership to nursing teams across the Peninsula Trauma Network.
  • Chair the Network Nursing and Rehabilitation Group and lead delivery of the Network's nursing work programme.
  • Collaborate with NHS England and other stakeholders to align regional services with national standards.
  • Support workforce planning and development initiatives to ensure a sustainable, skilled nursing workforce.
  • Promote education, training, and research in trauma care, working with universities and Health Education England.
  • Drive quality improvement projects and service evaluations using recognised methodologies.
  • Champion patient, family, and carer involvement in service design and improvement.

Qualifications
  • Qualified Nurse
  • Master’s level qualification (or working towards, e.g., established on pathway) or evidence of specialist training, experience or short courses equivalent to Master’s level
  • Current registration with the NMC
  • Degree or equivalent demonstrable experience
Knowledge & Experience
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and leading a clinical service.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading the implementation of changes to patient services, delivering tangible and sustained improvements.
  • Demonstrable experience of audit.
Aptitude & Abilities
  • Leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • IT literate and competent in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Able to build rapport and credibility with senior clinical and managerial teams in the delivery of performance targets, service delivery and change programmes.
  • Highly developed organisational skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritise work in the face of competing demands.
