Job summary

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Trust Fellow (Equiv. ST6+) in ECMO & Cardiac Intensive Care.

The CICU at GOSH handles complex congenital and acquired heart disease with ECMO/VAD and heart/lung transplantation programs, offering bespoke training and research opportunities. The post is fixed-term for 6 months, suitable for ST6+ trainees or equivalent, with a pro rata salary of £57,397–£67,610 per year.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification.
• Full GMC registration or eligible for registration.
• MRCP, MRCPCH or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of paediatric intensive care medicine experience at ST6+ level.
• At least 6 months of extracorporeal life support experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Ability to prioritise clinical needs and to organise workload.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical care to patients on cardiac intensive care and ensure efficient service delivery.
• Collaborate with the wider multi-disciplinary team including cardiorespiratory and intensive care services.
• Coordinate care of children on cardiac intensive care, including those with complex congenital heart disease, ECMO or ventricular assist devices.
• Take a share in all unit activities and support junior colleagues.
• Occasional emergency cover as duty rota allows.
