1. Planning and Delivering Lessons

  • Create engaging, safe, and inclusive lesson plans suitable for different abilities.
  • Ensure lessons meet curriculum requirements (e.g., National Curriculum for PE).
2. Promoting Health and Fitness
  • Help students understand the importance of physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
  • Teach concepts like fitness, nutrition, anatomy, and wellbeing.
  • Encourage lifelong participation in exercise and sport.
3. Assessing and Monitoring Progress
  • Evaluate students performance, skill development, effort, and behaviour.
  • Provide feedback that supports improvement.
  • Prepare formal assessments and contribute to reports.
4. Managing Safety and Behaviour
  • Ensure safe use of equipment and facilities.
  • Conduct risk assessments for activities.
  • Maintain order and positive behaviour in lessons, changing rooms, and sports spaces.
5. Extracurricular Activities
  • Organise sports clubs, fitness sessions, and inter‑school teams.
  • Coach sports teams and attend competitions.
  • Promote opportunities for students to develop talent and teamwork.
6. Pastoral and Professional Responsibilities
  • Act as a role model for professionalism and healthy habits.
  • Support students confidence, teamwork, resilience, and social skills.
  • Attend meetings, training, and contribute to whole‑school initiatives.
7. Administration and Organisation
  • Manage equipment, bookings, and resources.
  • Plan events such as sports day, tournaments, and after‑school fixtures.
8. Inclusion and Diversity
  • Adapt activities for students with disabilities or different confidence levels.
