Overview

We are seeking a versatile SEMH PE Teacher to join a supportive school in Taunton. This role is ideal for a professional passionate about physical education and capable of contributing to academic areas, specifically English, to support the holistic development of students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Annual Salary: Paid to scale up to £200/day

Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging PE lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs.
  • Promote physical health and well-being through a variety of sports and physical activities.
  • Occasionally cover English lessons, adapting teaching methods to meet the SEMH students\' needs.
  • Monitor and assess student progress in both physical and academic education, adapting lessons to meet individual needs.
  • Collaborate with other teaching staff to integrate physical education and academic learning in student development.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment in all activity settings.
  • Encourage students to develop positive attitudes towards physical education and lifelong fitness, as well as academic growth.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in teaching PE, preferably in an SEMH setting or with students with additional needs.
  • Capability to cover English lessons and adapt teaching strategies to support SEMH students.
  • Strong understanding of the impact of SEMH on learning and physical activities.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students of all abilities.
  • Commitment to professional development and learning.
  • Salary paid to scale but to be discussed prior to placement.
