Job summary

London Hire Ltd is seeking a PCV Driver to join our Adult Services team in Erith. The permanent role covers 28 hours per week, with AM/PM shifts to support home-to-school transport and assisting service users as required.

You will hold a full D driving licence (auto allowed with 3 points max), a CPC card and a DVLA Tachograph card, and pass a DBS check. Minimum two years’ bus/coach driving experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Hold a full unrestricted D driving licence (auto restrictions acceptable) with no more than 3 penalty points.
  • CPC qualification card and DVLA Digital Tachograph card are required.
  • Willing to undertake and satisfy a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience driving a bus or coach.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the vehicle in a safe manner, adhering to local road restrictions and speed limits.
  • Complete mandatory vehicle checks before use and report defects.
  • Secure all passengers and wheelchair users using appropriate safety equipment.
  • Ensure sufficient fuel for journeys and refuel as required.
  • Keep the vehicle clean inside and out on a regular basis.
  • Assist passengers and the Passenger Assistant as needed.

PCV Driver (28 Hours) Adult Services

Department: PCV (Bus) Driver

Compensation: £16.36 / hour


Description
Our PCV Drivers are responsible a professional driving service that supports our clients and service users. In addition to providing a safe home-to-school transport operation, you may also be operating the passenger lift and assisting the Passenger Assistant with the service users as and when required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the vehicle in a safe manner, adhering to local road restrictions and speed limits. Any fines or tickets received must be reported to the office as soon as possible.
  • Ensure mandatory vehicle checks are undertaken every time the vehicle is used to a standard acceptable on the road. Any defects to be reported to the office
  • Ensure that all passengers and wheelchair users are secured correctly in the appropriate location using the necessary safety equipment.
  • Ensure that the vehicle in use has adequate fuel for the journey, refueling as and when required or instructed.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is cleaned inside and out on a regular basis, as a minimum on a weekly basis
  • Remove and replace seating as required.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is parked in the depot correctly, in pre allocated bays where possible.
  • Operate the passenger lift and other equipment used to assist passengers whilst entering and exiting the vehicle safely.
  • Communicate with passengers and clients in a patient, informative manner.
  • Assist the Passenger Assistant with their duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Sound understanding of working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Able to deliver the service with a patient and level-headed attitude.
  • Hold a full unrestricted D driving licence (auto restrictions acceptable) with no more than 3 penalty points
  • Hold a CPC qualification card, with mandatory training kept up to date.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience of driving a bus or coach.
  • Hold or willing to apply for a DVLA Digital Tachograph driver’s card.
  • Willing to undertake and satisfy a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  • Hold a current and valid D4 medical examination report
