About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Team Member to join our growing team in Newcastle.

This role will be initially offered on a 12-month FTC basis with the potential of going permanent, subject to performance and team requirements.

What you'll be doing

The following are the key responsibilities of the role (but not limited to):

  • Processing our weekly and monthly payroll, including BACS and RTI
  • Validating all payroll output, including data input by employees, the business, and the wider HR Shared Services Teams
  • Performing manual calculations from gross to net pay, including NI and PAYE
  • Handling employee salary and payroll queries
  • Managing interfaces from third party suppliers as well as internal time and attendance systems
  • Being responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating payroll processes
  • Payroll reporting
Who we're looking for

The following qualities/experience are desirable:

  • Weekly payroll experience with an awareness of Working Rules Agreements
  • Ability to handle high-volume workloads and work towards KPIs of timeliness and quality
  • Experience in the end-to-end payroll running process and be proficient in payroll software
  • Competence in producing manual calculations and using excel
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
