Job description

As an out of hours and urgent care provider, weare seeking a Payroll Specialist reporting to our Group Finance Manager.

We are seeking a self-starter who isself-sufficient, proactive and adaptable, a good communicator and valued teammember. You are highly motivated to excel in your role, providing acomprehensive, professional and effective service. You have highly developed organisational and time management skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You have at least 3 years experience of working with multiple payrolls with sound knowledge & understanding of basic accountingprocedures.

We need you for 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

Process multiple payroll runs accurately using SagePayroll.

Maintain payroll data and perform administration tasks in Sage Line 50.

Administer workplace pension schemes, including enrollments and contributions.

Calculate holiday pay in line with policy and regulations.

Manage and maintain the Time & Attendance system.

Update and support rota management via Rotamaster.

Ensure compliance with PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, SPP, and Pension auto-enrolment requirements.

Resolve payroll queries and discrepancies promptly.

Administration of company pensions

Provide administrative support across the finance function.

Maintain awareness of team duties to provide cover during absence or holidays.

Protect payroll data accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity.

Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiency.

Today Badger has opted-in GP members in 60+ practices and provides 24/7 message handling, urgent primary care and GP out of hours service to a patient base of 1.3 million. We run the Urgent Treatment Services at Solihull and Erdington Stockland Green, with face-to face and 24/7 remote clinical assessment services operating from Bourne Road in Aston. Our head offices are at Glover Street, near the city centre. Badger was recognised with an Outstanding rating following our Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection in March 2024.

Qualifications
  • Payroll Qualification
  • A good general level of education.
  • Sage 50 Payroll Certification
  • AAT level 3
Experience
  • Previous experience working in a busy finance department with sound knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • Substantial experience in preparing and processing payroll.
  • Experience using IT and finance systems such as Sage Line 50, Sage Payroll, Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint.
  • Experience applying data protection and confidentiality procedures.
  • Experience within healthcare sector
  • Experience dealing with public sector organisations.
