The organisation is implementing a new HR and payroll system, moving from iTrent to People First. As existing employees move across to support the implementation project, this role will provide essential cover within the payroll team.

Working as part of a small and experienced team, you will support the accurate and timely delivery of a monthly payroll for approximately 1,300 employees.

Key responsibilities

  • Working closely with HR and People colleagues to maintain accurate data
  • Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes and controls
About you

You will be an experienced payroll professional who can quickly understand established processes and confidently manage a varied workload.

Strong pensions knowledge is desireable, ideally including experience of LGPS or another complex pension scheme. You should also have a good understanding of payroll legislation, statutory deductions, auto-enrolment and HMRC requirements.

Experience of using different payroll systems would be advantageous, although specific iTrent experience is not essential.

You will be organised, accurate and comfortable working to strict monthly deadlines, with the confidence to manage employee queries and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders.

  • Salary up to £34,500
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Hybrid working, typically two days per week in the office
  • 26 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Additional birthday leave
