Payroll Officer

Salary: Circa 40,000 (DOE). Only 2 days a week in the office.

A people-focused public sector organisation are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join their bubbly team.

Role
  • Process monthly payroll changes: starters, leavers, overtime, expenses and salary sacrifice
  • Handle complex pay queries and calculations (tax, NI, pensions, family leave, over/underpayments)
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with legislation and audit standards
  • Support multiple pension schemes and resolve associated queries
  • Provide payroll and HR policy guidance to employees and managers
  • Contribute to system improvements, testing and updates
  • Assist with general HR support and promote best practice across the service
What You'll Need
  • Strong payroll experience within a busy or complex environment
  • Knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory processes
  • Good Excel skills and experience with cloud-based HR/payroll systems
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Payroll qualification desirable; willingness to keep learning essential
