Job description

Our client, a reputable organisation, is seeking a detail‑oriented and reliable Payroll Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. This is a full‑time position based at their offices in Droitwich. The contract will run for 3-6 months. You’ll be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, maintaining compliance with HMRC regulations, and providing excellent support to employees with payroll‑related queries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process end‑to‑end payroll accurately and to set deadlines
  • Manage starters, leavers, and contractual changes
  • Calculate statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.)
  • Handle PAYE, NI, and pension contributions
  • Ensure compliance with current payroll legislation
  • Reconcile payroll reports and liaise with Finance and HR
  • Respond to employee payroll queries in a professional and timely manner
About You
  • Previous experience in a payroll processing role is essential
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
  • Confident using payroll software (e.g. Sage, iTrent, ADP, or similar)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
