Job summary

Insight, a Fortune 500 Solutions Integrator, seeks a Regional Payroll Manager (EMEA) based in Sheffield, with responsibility for end-to-end payroll operations across 15+ countries for ~3,000 teammates. The role blends strategy, governance, and hands-on leadership in a complex multinational environment.

You will lead cross-country payroll delivery, vendor relationships, and data protection compliance while driving automation and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience managing complex, multi-country payroll operations.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or managing payroll teams.
  • Strong knowledge of EMEA payroll legislation, tax, social security, pensions, and statutory benefits.
  • Experience managing payroll data across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Understanding of GDPR and payroll-related data protection requirements.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with enterprise payroll platforms such as ADP, Workday, or similar.
  • Professional payroll qualification (CIPP or equivalent).
  • Experience managing payroll through in-country and managed payroll providers.
  • Understanding of the EU Pay Transparency Directive.
  • Experience supporting payroll transformation, system migrations, or process standardisation projects.
  • Experience implementing payroll automation and reporting enhancements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead payroll operations across multiple countries, currencies, legal entities and pay frequencies.
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements, tax regulations and social security obligations.
  • Manage relationships with payroll vendors, MSPs, and external advisors.
  • Drive payroll integrations, harmonisation initiatives and onboarding after acquisitions.
  • Partner with HR and Compensation on pay transparency and equity initiatives.
  • Ensure GDPR and data protection compliance in payroll processes.
  • Support month-end payroll accounting, reporting, reconciliations and controls.
  • Lead SOX compliance activities, audits and payroll governance.
  • Drive automation and AI-enabled payroll improvements.
  • Develop and mentor a diverse regional payroll team.

Location: Sheffield – 3 days a week in office.

We're looking for an experienced Regional Payroll Manager (EMEA) to lead and oversee payroll operations across more than 15 countries, supporting approximately 3,000 teammates throughout the region. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives in a complex, multinational environment and is passionate about delivering accuracy, compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

As Regional Payroll Manager, you'll be responsible for the end-to-end management of payroll operations across EMEA, ensuring seamless service delivery while maintaining the highest levels of compliance and governance. You'll work closely with HR, Finance, Legal, external providers, and our Global Payroll team to drive payroll excellence across the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading payroll operations across multiple countries, currencies, legal entities and pay frequencies.
  • Ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements, tax regulations, social security obligations, pensions, and employee benefits.
  • Managing relationships with payroll vendors, managed service providers, and external advisors.
  • Driving payroll integrations, harmonisation initiatives, and onboarding activities following acquisitions.
  • Partnering with HR and Compensation teams on pay transparency and pay equity initiatives.
  • Ensuring compliance with GDPR and regional data protection requirements.
  • Supporting month-end accounting, payroll reporting, reconciliations, and financial controls.
  • Leading SOX compliance activities, audits, and payroll governance processes.
  • Driving automation and AI-enabled process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Developing and mentoring a diverse regional payroll team.
What We're Looking For

We're seeking a highly motivated payroll leader who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional stakeholder management and leadership skills.

  • Significant experience managing complex, multi-country payroll operations.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or managing payroll teams.
  • Strong knowledge of EMEA payroll legislation, tax, social security, pensions, and statutory benefits.
  • Experience managing payroll data across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Understanding of GDPR and payroll-related data protection requirements.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with enterprise payroll platforms such as ADP, Workday, or similar.
  • A proactive mindset with an interest in leveraging automation and AI tools to improve processes.
  • Professional payroll qualification (CIPP or equivalent).
  • Experience managing payroll through in-country and managed payroll providers.
  • Understanding of the EU Pay Transparency Directive.
  • Experience supporting payroll transformation, system migrations, or process standardisation projects.
