Job description

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a reputable and thriving hospitality organisation with an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Manager.

As the Payroll Manager, you will lead the processing of multiple payrolls for the company. Your responsibilities will include coordinating department workload and maintaining the monthly work calendar to ensure timely payment and accurate payroll reports.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in end-to-end payroll processing, preferably in a managerial role, and come from a finance background.

Responsibilities of the Payroll Manager will include:
  1. Coordinate and oversee the entire payroll process, including RPI increases, data collection, validation, calculations, and deductions.
  2. Identify and implement automation opportunities where possible.
  3. Maintain and update employee payroll records using trackers, including personal information, bank details, tax codes, and other relevant data.
  4. Process new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary/bonus changes promptly from the People Team payroll change tracker.
  5. Administer employee benefits such as managing, tracking, and posting bonus accruals/payments, pension contributions, health insurance, and other statutory or voluntary benefits.
  6. Manage and liaise with external vendors to resolve payroll-related queries and discrepancies.
  7. Assist with internal and external payroll audits.
  8. Stay updated on UK tax legislation and statutory requirements related to payroll, WTD, and Zero-hour contracts.
Skills and experience required:
  1. Proficiency in payroll software and systems, preferably Fourth.
  2. Excellent numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  3. Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax regulations, and employment laws.
  4. Understanding of benefits administration and pension schemes.
  5. Familiarity with timekeeping systems.
  6. Up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices in payroll management.
