A well-established payroll services firm in Scarborough is seeking a Payroll Clerk to manage accurate payroll processing and ensure compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in the payroll function, strong attention to detail, and be able to communicate effectively with clients. Qualifications

  • Experience in running the end-to-end payroll process.
  • Ability to solve client queries effectively.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Run accurate weekly and monthly payrolls.
  • Set up starters and leavers; maintain compliance.
  • Calculate holiday pay and process statutory payments.
  • Upload pension contributions and meet HMRC deadlines.
  • Produce year-end documents like P60s and P45s.

Internal movement has opened up an opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to join a friendly, established team and make an immediate impact.

What the Payroll Clerk job involves
  • Running accurate weekly and monthly payrolls across a varied client portfolio
  • Setting up starters/leavers and keeping records clean and compliant
  • Calculating holiday pay in line with current legislation
  • Assessing and processing statutory payments (SMP, SPP, SSP, etc.)
  • Uploading pension contributions to multiple providers and handling auto-enrolment tasks
  • Processing PAYE payments and CIS returns; meeting all HMRC deadlines
  • Producing year-end documents (P60s, P45s)
Skills required
  • Experience in a payroll function, running the end-to-end process
  • Strong numeracy and attention to detail.
  • Confident, clear communicator who enjoys solving client queries by phone and email
  • Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation; practice experience is a benefit
Other information
  • Full time Monday to Friday 37.5 hours
