Payroll Administrator, Cheltenham
£26,000 to £28,000
Monday to Friday, full time or part time (25 hours minimum)

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to join a wonderful team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is central to ensuring the accurate and timely processing of their weekly employee payroll and related financial transactions.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of payroll regulations, demonstrate discretion in handling confidential information, and possess strong analytical/communication skills.

Must Have’s

  • Previous experience in payroll administration, ideally within a multi-system environment.
  • Familiarity with payroll platforms such as Fourth and accounting systems like Xero.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, tax codes, and statutory payments.
  • Comfortable working with digital tools to manage data and generate reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

So what will you be doing?

  • Manage and respond to payroll-related communications via the Payroll Inbox, ensuring timely and professional handling of queries, updates, and requests.
  • Post and reconcile payroll journals in Xero, maintaining accurate financial records and supporting month-end reporting processes.
  • Operate and maintain payroll records using the designated payroll system, ensuring data is up-to-date, compliant, and securely stored.
  • Liaise with the external payroll bureau to manage and resolve technical or processing queries, ensuring effective coordination and timely payroll delivery.
  • Liaise with internal teams and employees to address payroll-related questions, clarify employee data, and support the resolution of any discrepancies or concerns.
  • Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of payroll data, adhering to data protection regulations and internal policies at all times.
