Payroll Accountant - Part Time

Description
This is a stand-alone role focussed on all aspects of payroll operation and administration related to the company, including balancing all payroll accounts. The role is responsible for Imagination UK's full time payroll only which has approximately 200 employees, and will lead the relationship with our payroll provider Payfit. We anticipate the workload can be achieved in 4-5x half days across Monday-Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage monthly payroll process from start to end, including BACs payment and HMRC payment, using Payfit and HSBCNet
- Action/Review all monthly payroll changes within Payfit, (eg joiner/leaver/salary or benefit changes) liaising with P&C and finance where necessary
- Produce all salary variation reports and comments for dual payroll approval - P&C and finance
- Reconcile and maintain Group pension scheme, including auto enrolment, supplier portal uploads and record keeping
- Produce monthly payroll journal within Payfit and process through accounting system (Deltek Maconomy)
- Reconcile all payroll related balance sheet accounts, including net pay and taxes, pension and salary sacrifice, liaising with benefit suppliers where necessary
- Calculate cross company payroll related recharges and raise intercompany journal entries
- Assist in financial management of P&C budget and associated accounting
- Work with P&C to to ensure employees have payroll inductions discussing pension and benefit/salary sacrifice options
- Communicate payroll related updates to employees via HiBob platform and respond to employee payroll related queries
- Create payments for incidental payroll related or confidential invoices and monthly/annual payroll taxes
- Responsible for appropriate year end returns - P60s, P11ds , P35
- Point of contact for payroll provider; Payfit
- Maintain payroll processes documentation, prepare payroll related deliverables and liaise with auditors during annual audit
- Manage HMRC payroll taxes account
- Keep on top of all payroll and tax related legislation changes and communicate with P&C/Finance; leading implementation of changes where necessary (eg payrolling of benefits)
- Adhoc payroll and employment tax tasks as they arise
- Fulfil role in compliance with company policies and procedures, for example (but not limited to) GDPR, ISO documentation, Information Security training
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise- Extensive understanding of payroll legislation, taxes and PAYE procedures
- CIPP qualified an advantage but not essential
- Experience of end-to-end payroll and use of payroll systems, Payfit and HiBob an advantage by not essential
- Exposure working in human resources, accounts or bookkeeping valuable
- Pension administration knowledge and auto-enrolment experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, specifically excel and sheets, including data analysis formulas such as V-Look Up, and the ability to analyse and interpret reports quickly
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication, including active listening, for informing and accurately answering queries from employees of all levels across the business
- Self motivated and pro-active, working individually and as part of a team
