What you'll be doing
  • Lead and motivate the payment team to deliver efficient, compliant, and high-quality work.
  • Manage daily operations — allocate resources, set priorities, and keep to deadlines.
  • Run team meetings to share goals, feedback, and best practices.
  • Oversee processing of invoices, subcontractor and employee timesheets, and payroll.
  • Act as a go-to point for queries, ensuring smooth communication with clients and internal departments.
  • Identify training needs and provide coaching and development support.
  • Monitor performance, conduct regular reviews, and promote continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with Finance and Operations to support audits, resolve discrepancies, and recover outstanding payments.
  • Handle client queries around payroll, tax, and payments professionally and efficiently.
What we're looking for
  • Previous experience in a managerial or team leader role within payroll, finance, or operations.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail — especially with numbers and data accuracy.
  • Confident communicator with great people skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable using digital systems.
  • A team player who thrives under pressure and leads by example.
What's on offer
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Private medical insurance
  • Enhanced maternity/paternity pay
  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • Company pension
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Free on-site parking
  • Regular team socials and quarterly events

  • Curious & Capable - they embrace change and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative & Kind - they celebrate team success and communicate with respect.
