A leading healthcare organization in Grimsby is seeking a Patient Safety and IPC Worker to support infection prevention and control measures, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff. As a PatientSafety and IPC Worker you would be working as part of a small and friendly teamwithin The Estates Team. Your job would be to support the implementation ofinfection prevention and control measures and contribute to ensuring a safeenvironment for patients, visitors, and staff, and assist in incidentprevention and response related to healthcare-associated infections and patientsafety risks
There will bea requirement to be flexible and work at all sites within the organisation,especially when covering team absences or unforeseen eventualities.
Therole will suit a person who has experience of working in an inpatient unitwithin the NHS or similar setting, a friendly adaptable attitude and enjoys thevariety this role offers, depending on the needs of the business.

Assist with routineenvironmental audits and checks across units and departments.
Identify and report areasthat fail to meet infection control standards.
Support compliance withcleaning schedules, safe waste disposal, and hygiene protocols.
Responsible for submittingorder requests of consumables and other supplies, ensuring stocktaking, stockrotation and its safe storage.
Responsible for establishing,maintaining, and assisting, with a programme of curtain changing throughout thelodges, in line with Navigo policy.
Responsible for thepurchasing of mattresses as directed/requested by clinical lead
Responsible for reporting andfollowing up any instances of pest control
Documentation & Reporting
Support the completion ofinfection control checklists, audit forms, and reports as directed by the IPCteam/area leads.
Escalate concerns ornon-compliance issues promptly to senior staff.
Maintain clear and accuraterecords in line with organisational policy.
Hand Hygiene & SafePractices
Promote and demonstrate thefive essential steps of hand hygiene to staff, patients, and visitors.
Monitor and supportcompliance with hand-washing and sanitisation procedures.
Ensure availability of soap,sanitiser, and hand-drying facilities.
Responsible for ensuring thelodges comply with the Organisations Food Hygiene Policy, i.e., food beingcorrectly labelled and in date, and brings to the Clinical Leads attention anynoncompliance.
Prevention ofCross-Contamination
Follow and reinforce correctuse of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Assist in maintainingisolation protocols where necessary.
Support correct segregationand disposal of clinical and non-clinical waste.
Environmental Safety &Security
Conduct regular room checksand environmental sweeps to identify and remove potential hazards.
Identify, remove, and safelyreport contraband items (e.g., sharp objects, restricted items, substances, orelectronics not permitted).
Actively monitor for andreport ligature points or risks, ensuring immediate escalation to theappropriate team.
Support the team inmaintaining compliance with health, safety, and security procedures.
Participate in safetywalk arounds and environment risk assessments.
Contribute to incidentreporting, investigation, and learning processes.
Responsible for ensuringequipment is always maintained to a safe and clean standard, reporting anyproblems to the relevant person/persons immediately.
Responsible for reporting anymedical and/or electrical equipment that needs repairing and requires PATtesting, and keeping up to date records of reports, defects and follow upaction appropriately.
Responsible for overseeingand updating site medical devices register.
Attend Medical Devicesmanagement meetings
Engage with staff andpatients to gather feedback on safety concerns or observations.
Facilitate the weekly firealarm checks in conjunction with the Estates Operative and raise any resultingconcerns with the unit managers.
Responsible for escortingEngineers during annual and biannual service visits and other ad hoc visits asrequired.
Responsible for liaising withthe Estates team to ensure the units and gardens are safe and well maintained,and all items/rooms are functioning well.
Patient Safety &Observation
Assist staff with thesupervision and observation of patients, always ensuring safety.
Report incidents, concerns,or changes in patients behaviour promptly to clinical staff.
Respond appropriately andcalmly to emergency situations, following protocols and supportingde-escalation where required.
Assist inimplementing patient safety initiatives, including falls prevention, andmedication safety awareness etc.
