The University of Edinburgh is seeking a specialist in Patient Public Involvement (PPI) in research within the Cancer Research UK Scotland Centre. The role will develop and lead local and national PPI strategy to embed patient perspectives into Cancer Research UK Scotland projects and funding applications.

You will collaborate across the centre and partners, providing expert support to embed PPI in fundamental and translational cancer research.

Grade UE08: £50,253 to £61,759 per annum, pro rata if part time

Full time: 35 hours per week

Fixed term: for 24 months with potential for extension

The Opportunity:

How can we meaningfully integrate the lived experiences of cancer patients and the public into our scientific research to ensure our discoveries are relevant, ethical, and focused on what matters most to patients? We are looking for a specialist in the field of Patient Public Involvement (PPI) in research to develop, influence, lead and deliver local and national PPI strategy for the Cancer Research UK Scotland Centre. The focus of the role is to embed the use of PPI in fundamental and translational cancer research to improve the quality and impact of our research, and to provide specialist expertise and knowledge and support to enhance the development of research and funding applications. You would work collaboratively, providing expertise and support across the Cancer Research UK Scotland centre and its partners.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

This role is conditional on a successful PVG and Disclosure Scotland check.
