About Us

Village Vet West Hampstead is part of the Linnaeus family, a forward-looking partnership of highly respected primary care and referral practices across the UK and Ireland. We are passionate about making A Better World for Pets by delivering outstanding veterinary care through teamwork, compassion, and clinical excellence.

At Village Vet, we believe that our strength comes from our people. We foster a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative culture where every team member can thrive and grow.

The Role

As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), you will play a key role in supporting our veterinary and nursing teams to deliver the highest standards of patient and client care. This is a varied role that will see you involved in patient handling, inpatient care, theatre preparation, cleaning and sterilisation, pharmacy support, and client communication.

You will be working closely with Registered Veterinary Nurses, Veterinary Surgeons, and the wider team in a busy and rewarding environment. The role is hands-on and ideal for someone who is compassionate, proactive, and eager to learn.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the nursing and veterinary teams in providing excellent care to patients.
  • Assist with safe and patient-friendly handling and restraint.
  • Provide inpatient care including feeding, exercising, and grooming hospitalised pets.
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain patient accommodation, theatre, and equipment.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures such as laboratory work and imaging.
  • Support pharmacy operations, including stock rotation and preparing medications under supervision.
  • Ensure the highest standards of hygiene, disinfection, and waste disposal across the practice.
  • Contribute to client care including reception support, enquiries, bookings, and payments.
  • Work collaboratively with all team members and participate in practice meetings and training.
About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Compassionate, caring, and committed to animal welfare.
  • Reliable, adaptable, and a strong team player.
  • Professional in appearance and approach.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and developing within veterinary care.
  • Confident communicating with both colleagues and clients.

Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care setting is beneficial but not essential—we value the right attitude and passion for patient care above all.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary of £28,000 per annum.
  • 42 hours per week with a structured rota.
  • Career development opportunities within the wider Linnaeus group.
  • A supportive and friendly team environment.
  • Access to dedicated training and learning programmes.
  • Generous benefits package including staff discounts, wellness support, and more.
