Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic, organised receptionist for the Imaging Business Unit. The role supports patient scheduling and reception duties across imaging services, including X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, and MRI, across two hospitals and seven community sites.

The post requires good IT skills, strong communication and the ability to work flexibly within UHDB’s values of compassion, openness and excellence.

Job overview

We require an enthusiastic, organised and flexible individual to support patient scheduling and reception duties within the Imaging Business Unit at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) NHS Foundation Trust.

The Imaging Business Unit is a diverse and exciting department with services delivered across 2 acute hospitals at Royal Derby Hospital and Queens Hospital Burton as well as 7 community sites throughout Derbyshire and East Staffordshire.

Responsibilities of this role will include reception duties, administration and clerical support for the scheduling of patients requiring diagnostic tests across a number of different clinical areas within Imaging, e.g. X-Ray, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, CT Scan, MRI Scan, Nuclear Medicine and Bone Density.

There are opportunities for personal development within both admin and clerical and our clinical teams within the Imaging Department.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must be confident communicators with the ability to liaise with colleagues and patients. Essential qualities are strong organisational/time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure. Flexibility is required as the post holders will be required to work across University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB).

Applicants should have demonstrable experience of working in a busy customer-focussed or care environment or have call handling and reception experience.

Applicants must be experienced in using IT systems and/or appointment systems although training will be given.

Core skills/qualifications include: educated to English Language and Mathematics at O’ level/GCSE level, IT literacy, good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and individually, with minimal supervision.
