Overview

Portable Appliance Tester

Salary and benefits: National Living wage + Bonus + Bus Pass/Tram Pass + Expenses + Tools. Average Salary 28k. Permanent role. Full training given with progression opportunities.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Some weekend work may be required and on occasion out of hours work. Some time may be spent away from home from Monday to Friday.

Eligibility: Must hold Full Manual UK Drivers Licence and must pass Full enhanced DBS check.

Key Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will carry out In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT) in accordance with the current edition of the IET Code of Practice.
  • Produce results which meet the requirements and quality standards of clients and external accrediting bodies.
  • Manage appliance testing in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Liaise with customers to ensure that the work is carried out efficiently, to customer’s requirements, whilst limiting the disruption to their business. Lots of sites consist of Schools, Hospitals, Hotels and Universities.
  • The engineer must have an acceptable knowledge of Microsoft Office and have access to emails; as part of their job (once a week) requires the successful process of the downloading procedure (weekly results) being completed and sent to the PAT team at Head Office.
  • Job schedules will be arranged by the PAT Team at Head Office; however, the Engineer must be able to manage their own time efficiently and successfully.
  • Maintain an acceptable time keeping track record, ensure that start & finish times are adhered to, as directed by the PAT Manager.
  • Identify, prevent, or pre-empt any potential areas for customer dissatisfaction, for example, arriving late due to traffic. Good route preparation and forward planning is vital.
