Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a Pastry Demi Chef to join the Pastry kitchen in Jumeirah Carlton Tower. The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Sous Chef in supervising and managing activities related to the kitchen including menu creation, management of kitchen staff, ordering and purchasing of inventory while ensuring smooth operations and high service delivery and quality standards.
  • Be constantly aware of the requirements from the Executive Sous Chef in day‑to‑day operations following the outlet's operating concept and Jumeirah Group's standards to ensure the preparation of high‑quality food.
  • Prepare and cook high‑quality food according to menu guidelines, recipes and instructions received.
  • Follow correct hygienic food‑handling practices and the restaurant's cleaning and waste disposal practices.
  • Assist the Executive Chef / Chef de Cuisine to set service and food standards in compliance with the group's policies, procedures and quality standards.
  • Communicate any issues arising within the section to the Executive Sous Chef and act on any further directions given to ensure prompt solutions for smoother kitchen operations.
Qualifications
  • College Degree in Culinary Arts or similar from an accredited Culinary School.
  • Completed full kitchen apprentice and chef training courses.
  • Expertise in menu development, pricing, production and delivery skills.
  • Expertise in hygiene, health and safety knowledge.
  • Expertise in product quality and presentation skills.
