Job summary

Compass Group UK is seeking a skilled Pastry Chef for an Independent School. The role focuses on creating high-quality pastry, bakery and dessert items from scratch, within an on-site team delivering creative menus for students, staff and guests.

You will work Monday to Friday with one Saturday per month, using fresh ingredients and maintaining top food safety standards while contributing to a memorable dining experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Pastry Chef position.
• Strong pastry, bakery and dessert production skills.
• A passion for high-quality food and current culinary trends.
• Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures.
• Experience with stock control and waste management.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Produce and deliver exceptional pastries, breads, desserts and bakery items.
• Develop, maintain and update pastry recipes.
• Support menu planning and product costing with Head Chef.
• Minimise and record food waste in line with company standards.
• Maintain high food safety, hygiene and safety standards.
• Collaborate with kitchen and support teams to ensure cleanliness and organisation.
