Overview

We are currently working with a Alternative Provision in Chesterfield who are looking to take on a Pastoral officer on a temp to permanent, full time basis

In this AP, all pupils are permanently excluded and may show challenging behaviours. Pupils may have SEND.

Main Responsibilities

Main purpose of Role includes the identification of pupils at risk and ensure that the academy is providing highly effective safeguarding support following KCSIE. To be a deputy designated safeguarding lead. The safeguarding team also support attendance as a safeguarding concern. In addition, this role supports pastoral care, refers families for additional support and ensures that our pupils have off site vocational AP places in place where appropriate. To provide the academy with robust and thorough safeguarding processes

Required Experience

• Working to KCSIE
• Being a DSL / DDSL
• Working with challenging and vulnerable young people
• Attending safeguarding meetings for pupils such as core groups
• Attending safeguarding meetings for pupils such as core groups and strategy meetings and working with social care

Required Knowledge

• The Derbyshire safeguarding thresholds, and support services available
• Child Protection
• KCSIE and other national policies that relate to safeguarding
• A range of possible attendance interventions and strategies

Please note for this role you will need to hold a full UK driving license and have business insurance OR willingness to get business insurance - for most insurance companies this can be added without a fee or with a small fee.

You will need to have a DBS on the update service for this role - if you do not we can support you with getting one.
