Overview

Pastoral Officer / Behaviour Support – Location: Preston • Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday • Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm • Pay: £105 - £115 P/D • Start Date: February

Prospero Teaching are looking for a confident and capable pastoral officer to work within the pastoral team of a well-regarded Pupil Referral Unit in Preston. This PRU caters for students who are significantly disengaged from mainstream education, including those who have been expelled from previous schools and provisions. Some of these students may present with ADHD, ASD, and emotional regulation difficulties. These students may also come from chaotic home lives, and so a trauma informed approach is key. You will be assisting the pastoral team in managing incidents within the provision, and may be required to work 1 to 1 with particularly challenging students. You must be comfortable with significant levels of challenging behaviour due to the nature of the provision. This opportunity is full time, and temp-to-perm.

Your Role as a Pastoral Officer
  • Manage behaviour incidents within the school
  • Work 1:1 with challenging students
  • Work closely with other members of staff to support students
  • Encourage positive participation, focus and confidence in the students
  • Contribute to a calm, safe and inclusive school environment

  • Experience supporting children or young people (school, tutoring, youth work, care, coaching all welcome)

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
  • Robust and comfortable with challenging behaviour
  • You must hold sufficient qualifications in both English and Maths to be eligible for this role
