Job summary

Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Lead to support the Head of Year in ensuring students attend regularly and are punctual, while promoting a culture of readiness to learn. You will manage behaviour and build trust with families across the local community.

The successful candidate will be approachable, well-organised and actively engaged in delivering high-quality pastoral support to staff, students and families, helping to create a positive, inclusive learning

We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate and supportive member of staff to join our busy pastoral team as Pastoral Lead. Overseen by the Senior Behaviour & Attendance Support Officer, you will support the Head of Year; ensuring students’ attend school, are on time every day and are supported - ensuring their behaviour is demonstrating that they are ready to learn.

You will take the lead in contacting parents/carers where children have been or who are absent from school, creating positive relationships and building trust between home and school. As a highly visible member of staff, you will ensure students are ready to learn by creating a culture of high expectation where students know the values and expectations of behaviour. You will be the first port of call in dealing with incidents of poor behaviour.

About The Academy

Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy is located in the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell, and in very close proximity to the centre of Birmingham. It is a slightly larger than average, 11–16 co-educational academy with approximately 1,200 students. It has grown over the last few years and is now full and oversubscribed in every year group for the seventh consecutive year. The academy’s reputation locally is excellent. OSCA was graded as a good academy, for the third time in 2023.

The academy has been recognised with a myriad of awards over recent years. These include the Investors In People Gold Award, The Quality in Careers Standard Gold Award, The Basic Skills Quality Mark, and the Artsmark Gold Award.
