Job description

Pastoral Assistant - New Ways college (formerly Corbett House), Westonhall Road, Stoke Prior, Bromsgrove, B60 4AL

Purpose of Role

To support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour and mental health through the delivery of targeted, structured pastoral interventions. The role focuses on helping pupils develop emotional regulation, engagement and readiness to learn. This is a specialist support role within the pastoral team, contributing to a proactive, trauma-informed approach to behaviour and wellbeing.

The Pastoral Assistant supports pupils through planned interventions and responsive support, working to reduce barriers to learning and improve overall outcomes. New Ways caters for 11-19 year olds who have special education needs relating mainly to Autism.

The school offers an environment that is safe and low sensory alongside an ambitious curriculum which includes a suite of GCSE’s and enrichment opportunities to ensure students achieve the very best outcomes possible and are fully prepared for their transition in to Further education, employment, training and adulthood.

New Ways School and College is currently operating under one DfE-registered establishment. From January 2027, subject to DfE approval and implementation, the sites will operate as two separate establishments: New Ways School and Corbett House .
