Southern Baptist Convention (SBC)
West End Baptist is seeking a pastor to provide spiritual leadership and oversight to the congregation in order to fulfill our mission of making disciples through the vision that the Lord has given us to establish a healthy community church in the West End Manor Community.
West End Baptist Church is an elder-led, Southern Baptist church that was planted in the suburbs of the west end of Richmond, Virginia in 2001. Our church currently has around 35 members and 25 children who are part of our fellowship. While the wording of our mission statement has changed throughout the years, at its core has always been the commitment to make disciples of Jesus Christ – people who turn from their sin and trust in Jesus to consequently follow him in loving God, loving one another, and loving all people . By the grace of God, we have sought to do this through meeting for worship to experience the glory of God through expositional preaching, prayer, singing, and the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, through meeting together in small groups for fellowship and spiritual encouragement centered around God’s Word, and through various means to evangelize and serve those around us and around the world.
After a few temporary meeting places, the church met in a local elementary school for seven years (2004-2011) before finding long term rental space in an office park on a heavily traveled road. The church met there for ten years (2011-2021), before change in ownership led the church to seek a new location. After praying specifically that the Lord would provide a place to meet in a community that would allow us to serve that community, a place to meet opened up in the West End Manor neighborhood. This neighborhood is an ethnically and religiously diverse neighborhood of several thousand households. As a church, we believe that the Lord has providentially brought us to this location and given us a vision for the next three to five years to establish a healthy community church in the West End Manor Community that results in the planting and growth of other community churches locally and globally.
