Partworks & Direct Marketing Director - Maternity Cover Contract

LOCATION: LONDON - HYBRID

We have an amazing opportunity to join a global leader in the Partworks publishing and Direct Marketing industry, for an experienced Marketing Director to head up the marketing team and cover maternity leave for up to 15 months. This pivotal role reports to the Managing Director and will be a key member of the management team. This role offers hybrid working, with 3 days in the London office and 2 days from home. Our client is known for their innovative subscription models and globally distributed products, engaging customers through multi-channel marketing campaigns and highly targeted customer acquisition strategies.

The Marketing Director will have overall responsibility for the company’s marketing strategy across all markets, focusing on pricing policy, campaign execution and driving customer engagement.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role will include, but not limited to:

  • Strategic leadership – developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy to drive customer acquisition, retention and revenue growth.
  • Product development – including taking an active role in product development, shaping the programme of research, tests and launches, overseeing new product development, collaborating closely with editorial, production and the distribution teams; managing the initial stages of development and setting up P&Ls.
  • Defining KPIs and measuring campaign performances, optimizing ROI.
  • Campaign Management – leading on end-to-end marketing campaign across channels, including TV, print and digital. Optimising subscription funnels and customer journey mapping. Trialing new channels and creative approaches, working out what aligns best with each audience and product.
  • Budget management – setting up and overseeing P&Ls and managing the overall R&D budget for the year ensuring all initiatives are accurately costed in advance.
  • Acting as the marketing point of contact across all departments, ensuring alignment and effective communication.

We are looking for a driven individual with substantial proven experience ideally in Partworks marketing and/or direct marketing, with a strong understanding of subscription-based business models and customer lifecycle marketing. Ideally, you will have hands‑on experience with media buying across various channels, from TV campaigns to paid social, email and performance-based advertising. Strong leadership capabilities with a proactive and results‑oriented approach are essential for this role, as is the ability to be comfortable managing budgets and utilising spreadsheets for strategic oversight.
