Job description

Our client is a full-service UK law firm with a long-established and highly regarded commercial and specialty insurance practice, acting for a recognised roster of insurers across the London market and the wider UK. The practice is genuinely insurance-led rather than a general disputes offering with an insurance label attached, and is well resourced beneath partner level. As part of a deliberate investment in cyber, they are looking to appoint a Partner to build and lead the offering.

Cyber is the area of the practice with the most headroom and the least legacy. You will advise insurers and insureds across incident response, data breach and privacy, ransomware and extortion, business interruption and systems failure, and the coverage disputes that follow - alongside the regulatory exposure and third-party litigation that increasingly sit behind them. There is real scope to shape how the offering is positioned in the market rather than inherit a settled one.

We are keen to speak with partners with an established, portable practice of approximately £400,000 to £750,000, currently operating at Partner or Legal Director level in a firm with a recognised insurance or cyber offering. What matters most is the client relationships and market visibility to bring a practice across, and the commercial appetite to grow it materially on a platform with broader capability and a more competitive rate structure than most specialist insurance firms can offer.

The wider firm's corporate, regulatory, employment, technology and commercial disputes capability means client relationships can be developed well beyond the incoming practice area rather than defended within it - a meaningful point in a class where the legal work is rarely confined to the coverage question.
