Learning Support Assistant Job available in Basingstoke

Are you a patient, compassionate, and enthusiastic individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? A welcoming primary school in Basingstoke is looking for a Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH and Autism during morning sessions.

This is part time teaching Assistant, working Monday to Friday (18 hours 45 minutes per week). This is a long term temporary position, mornings only, and is looking for the right Teaching Assistant to start ASAP until the end of the academic year.

About the Role

For this job you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide consistent support for the child, helping them access learning and develop key social and emotional skills. Your support will be crucial in creating a calm, structured environment that enables the child to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for a child with SEMH and autism during morning lessons
  • Implement strategies from the child's Individual Support Plan and EHCP
  • Encourage social interaction and support emotional regulation
  • Adapt activities to suit the child's needs and learning style
  • Collaborate with staff and parents to monitor and support progress
We're Looking for Someone Who
  • Has experience working with children with SEMH, autism or additional needs (preferred but not essential)
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
  • Is calm, reliable, and committed to supporting the child's development
  • Can follow guidance while also using initiative when needed
  • Holds a relevant TA qualification (desirable)
