Job summary

Chesterfield Borough Council is seeking a part-time Swimming Instructor to deliver learn-to-swim sessions at Queens Park Sports Centre and The Healthy Living Centre. The post requires Swim England Level 2 (Level 1 acceptable with training) and a current lifeguard award; duties include teaching, coaching strokes, and one-to-one lessons.

Hours are four per week on Mondays 12:30–14:30 and Wednesdays 09:30–11:30, with regular unsocial hours and opportunities for training and development.

Qualifications

• Qualified to Swim England Level 2; Level 1 acceptable with commitment to train to Level 2.
• Must hold National Pool Lifeguard Award or National Rescue Award for swimming teachers/coaches.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
• Experience delivering learn-to-swim programmes and one-to-one tuition is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver learn-to-swim sessions at Queens Park Sports Centre and The Healthy Living Centre.
• Provide one-to-one lessons and stroke technique coaching.
• Support service by covering colleague absences and attending planned meetings.
• Maintain high-quality teaching standards with flexible hours to meet customer demand.
