Job summary

The Barbour factory in South Shields is hiring a part-time Sewing Machinist to support the production of quality wax jackets. You will operate various sewing machines and work with different materials to meet productivity and quality targets.

Hours are Monday–Thursday, 12:45pm–5:15pm, in a job-share arrangement. Barbour offers a supportive environment with opportunities for training and development, plus on-site perks.

Qualifications

• Competent in garment construction.
• Experience as a machinist in a factory environment.
• Good manual dexterity.
• Able to work as part of a team and meet targets.
• Able to work quickly and accurately.
• Comfortable in a pressurised environment to achieve targets.

Responsibilities

• Meet productivity targets for garment production according to the schedule.
• Safe handling of machines and operating machinery per procedures.
• Report defective equipment to Team Leader and keep own area tidy.
• Meet agreed quality standards, aiming for right first time.
• Follow Barbour Safety Policy as shown in induction handbook.
