Job description

Part-Time SEN Tutor (Lancashire)

Prospero Teaching is seeking experienced SEN Tutors across Lancashire to deliver high-quality 1:1 tuition in both Maths and English from KS1 to KS4.

Our tutors work with vulnerable pupils who are unable to access mainstream education, often due to Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. This role is ideal for teachers or tutors looking for flexible, part-time work where you can make a real impact.

Role Details:
  • Location: Across Lancashire (including Preston, Blackburn, Burnley, Chorley, and surrounding areas)
  • Hours: Approx. 10 - 20 per week (flexible between 9am - 3pm, term-time only)
  • Pay: £27 - £30 per hour, depending on experience
  • Contract: Ongoing, part-time, flexible
  • Subjects: Both Maths and English (KS1 - KS4, depending on your experience and preference)
  • Start date: ASAP
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with pupils with SEN/SEMH in the UK
  • Confident delivering both Maths and English in line with the UK curriculum
  • QTS desirable (not essential with strong SEN/tuition background)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Ability to travel locally within Lancashire
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable teaching style

As a tutor, you'll be supporting pupils 1:1 in community settings or in their homes (with safeguarding in place). Each session is tailored to the child's needs, combining core subject teaching with strategies that build confidence and engagement.

This is a rewarding opportunity for experienced SEN practitioners who want to step away from the traditional classroom while still making a significant difference.
